Major General Gary Harrell, US ARMY (R)
CEO – EMERITUS (1951 – 2023)
During his 35-year tenure in the U.S. Army, Major General Harrell distinguished himself as one of the nation’s premier tacticians and leaders. As a 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force) member, he led operations in Panama, Colombia, Iraq, and Somalia and ultimately became Commander of “The Unit” in 1998. As Director of the U.S. Central Command’s Joint Security Directorate, he managed global security for all military and civilian personnel. He also spearheaded the USCENTCOM Joint Inter-Agency Task Force, commanded large-scale missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, and supervised NATO operational control of Afghanistan.
As Director General of the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (a $200M facility outside Amman, Jordan), he has worked directly with the King to establish a state-of-the-art training destination for the world’s most elite counterterrorist units.
In the private sector, MG Harrell served as VP of Business Development for Pacer Health Organization, where he managed the execution of mergers and acquisitions and integration strategies for newly acquired facilities. MG Harrell was the CEO/Owner of Raven 22/Harrell Group until his passing in 2023.
Case Studies
Raven 22/Harrell Group received an urgent call for a US citizen having a life-threatening medical event located in the Caribbean.
Response
Within hours, Raven 22/Harrell Group was able to mobilize, deploy, make contact, stabilize and prep the citizen for transport back to US soil for proper medical treatment. These actions ultimately saved their life.
Raven 22/Harrell Group received an urgent call from a business owner. The owner and their entire staff were trapped inside their place of business during a riot. While they were sieged in their business structure, the protest turned violent.
Response
Raven 22/Harrell Group mobilized our Recovery and Evacuation team. The developed plan of extraction resulted in the safe recovery of all personnel, while ensuring that the building was secured. All action was executed within 3 ½ hours from the time of the distress call. This rescue was so covert, rioters didn't realize for several hours that the employees had been evacuated. This claim is substantiated by social media posts taken of rioters realizing the staff had been evacuated hours after Harrell Group responded. This type of specialized operation has occurred on numerous instances. All operations conducted by Harrell Group’s Recovery and Evacuation Team have been provided without incident.
Raven 22/Harrell Group's distinctive special operation techniques in threat mitigation have become a necessity. Our team was asked to dispatch US government sponsored training specialists to assist foreign government nuclear security personnel.
Response
Raven 22/Harrell Group traveled abroad to provide a hands-on defense tactic training course. These exercises included: live fire rifle training, force-on-force CQB drills, and preparatory secure transport instruction. Classroom education consisted of threat assessment analysis, tactic executions, and tabletop sessions. In addition, discussion of hand and leg strikes, control locks, and handcuffing techniques were topics covered in these multi-week courses.
The distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine in Florida was a swift assignment to initiate and conduct. Raven 22/Harrell Group was asked by the client to assist in the start up of the vaccine distribution process including operations management and security.
Response
Our team immediately provided experienced operations management personnel to the organized headquarters. There, they managed logistics, personnel, and security for the vaccination effort taking place throughout the state of Florida. Raven 22/Harrell Group deployed certified personnel to inoculate local citizens, coordinated both armed and unarmed security at vaccination sites and equipment storage areas, and managed the highly complex logistical requirements for the effort. The results were the very successful distribution of the vaccine to hundreds of thousands of people to combat the pandemic that affected us all.
